A Quiet Place Review
There are very few dialogues in the movie. The characters communicate mainly via sign language
The daughter is deaf. They suffer a tragedy early on in the movie. They move around looking for supplies & communicating only via sign language. There are very few dialogues in the movie. Several months post the tragedy, Evelyn gets pregnant again. Lee makes several arrangements to contain the sound during childbirth. But as luck would have it, things go awry. The creatures end up entering the house. Does the family make it our alive? Do the creatures get killed? You will have to watch the movie to find out.
John Krasinski does a commendable job as the lead star & director. He shows tremendous amount of maturity. He is very efficient in his role. You get the feeling that the role was meant for him. He extracts good performance from his wife – Emily Blunt & the junior cast. Millicent Symmonds as Regan deserves special mention for her performance. The movie is more of a thriller than a horror film. The thrills are good. The sight of the creature will make you cringe. The makers need to be lauded for making a movie on such a novel concept.
While the movie has a good script, the screenplay is found to be lacking in parts. There are scenes in the first half which are a complete drag. The fear of the creature subsides as the movie progresses. The second half is better than the first half.
For fans of the thriller/horror genre, we would recommend watching this movie in the theatres. Do not expect the moon & you will come out of the movie satisfied.
