Background & Education
Khera was born in Udaipur, Rajasthan, and later enrolled in Delhi University for further studies. He was involved in journalism in the early 1980s, which helped him develop a fundamental skill in communicating.

He entered the Indian Youth Congress in Rajasthan in 1989, but left after Rajiv Gandhi was murdered in 1991. He returned to the Congress in 1998 and was appointed Political Secretary to Sheila Dikshit, the Delhi CM, from then until 2013. He has since had roles at the national level:
