Read our article about how music icons Justin Bieber, Nicki Minaj, Drake And Lady Gaga Have Made 2020 The Biggest Year For Hot 100 No. 1 Debuts
On June 22nd, the collaboration between Nicki Minaj and 6ix9ine “Trollz” debuted at N 1 on the all-genre singles ranking. This is the first time 6ix9ine makes it to the top and the second time for Nicki Minaj to be number one. The song became one of the 40 tracks that have ever managed to start their existence as high as possible in the ranking. This year a surprising number of tracks started off by debuting at N1 on the ranking. That made 2020 the year when the most number of tracks debuted at N 1 on the Hot 100. The mind-blowing number is five! And the year is not even over yet. Hot 100 has over 60 years of history and only 40 songs have ever debuted at N 1. 5 songs of this year make one eight of all the songs that started at the top of the ranking, and half the year is still ahead! The record number was at 4 before 2020. So, only four songs a year making it to the top right away, and that too had only happened twice. 1995 was the first year that a song debuted at N 1 and it was “You Are Not Alone” by Michael Jackson. The same year the tracks that followed were: “Exhale (Shoop Shoop)” by Whitney Houston, “Fantasy” by Mariah Carey, and “One Sweet Day” with Boyz II Men. That year remained the miracle year for over a decade until in 2018, Drake debuted at N 1 twice, with two different songs, Childish Gambino and Ariana Grande were the performers of other two songs that ranked as high as possible. The list for this year is Drake, Travis Schott and Kid Cudi, Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande, Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande, and now 6ix9ine and Nicki Minaj.
What about the concerts? Perspective on Drake and Justin Bieber
On one hand, it has been a historical year for the music industry with all those debuts ranking at the top of the Hot 100, on the other hand, the COVID-19 pandemic messed up every industry and the show business and music is no exception. The concerts were delayed, whether big or small, whether in the huge venues or small bars. The stars such as Drake and Justin Bieber were no exception. All the big venues rescheduled the concerts for 2021. However, there is still some hope that the fans will be able to see the performances of their favorite artists. How? Well, as the countries are in phase one of reopening after the lockdown, some restaurants, bars, and casinos are allowed to work at a limited capacity. Rumor has it that the stars will now start performing for VIP audiences and special guests at casino venues. Canadian casinos are reportedly known for organizing special performances like that where guests watch live shows of favorite artists and play casino games. Invited-only guests love vip gambling by getting bonuses along with favorite artist performances.
Maybe Drake and Justin Bieber, along with other stars whose concerts were delayed will surprise their fans by showing up at the VIP parties in the casinos. This year, Drake released his sixth studio album. “Dark Lane Demo Tapes” consists of 14 songs and made it to the top of all possible charts in the United States and Canada. Fans would love to hear those new songs performed live. Maybe before the 2021 grand return of the stars to the stage is possible, Canadian casinos will organize those private parties. Reportedly, the parties are not regular celebrations. There is a very strict dress code. However, the themes can vary. One day the guests will show up dressed up as their favorite characters from the movies or comic books, the next day it will be an 80s themed party, and then classic night where the tuxedos and nightgowns are a must. Another amazing thing at these parties is that while listening to the stars perform live for a small audience, the guests can also play all the games that the casinos offer. They can sit at the poker table, sip champagne and play poker, or gamble at the slot machines, bet on sports and play the Roulette.
