Kartik Aaryan – The Next Big Thing?
Pati, Patni Aur Woh has been declared a hit, which makes it three hits in a row for Kartik Aaryan. Is he the next big thing? Read our article to find out!
Bollywood is an industry where thousands or probably, lakhs of people try their luck & only a few succeed. While some manage to star in one hit, it is even more difficult to keep repeating your success. That is where star kids have the edge. Not only do to get a break easily, they even manage to get plum projects post their debut movie. While star kids keep getting chances despite their first few films flopping, the outsiders get just 1 or 2 chances if they are lucky. If two of their films flop back to back it is the end of their career as a leading man. They then have to suck up to bollywood big shots for two bit roles in multi-starrer movies.
Female stars have it comparatively easier vis-a-vis the male stars. Female stars just need to land a project opposite a big male star. It is not very difficult considering producers are always on the lookout for fresh faces to be paired opposite the male stars. Their fortunes then depend on that of the male star. The bigger the male star, the higher are the chances of the female actor’s star rising. On the other hand a male star has to rely solely on his talent & luck for his movie to succeed. Bollywood, being largely male driven, the male actors need to be at the top of their game to even survive. Starring in a women oriented movie opposite a big female star doesn’t get you respect in the eyes of the audiences.
So it is makes everyone happy to see a complete outsider with no industry connections making it big in bollywood. Kartik Aaryan is one of the very few apart from Ayushmann Khurana, Rajkumar Rao & Sushant Singh Rajput who have managed to thrive in this competitive world that is bollywood. From his first hit – Pyaar Ka Punchama, where he shone as for his long monologue to three hits this year, Kartik Aaryan has come a long way.
What few know is that Kartik Aaryan was an engineering student, when the acting bug bit him. He was in his second year of B.Tech, when he landed his debut movie. As luck would have it, the rickshaw he was travelling in on his way back home after the audition got into an accident & the rickshaw fell on his knee. Kartik, who had landed his debut movie after years of struggle, feared the worst. When his director- Luv Ranjan & producer – Kumar Mangat came to the hospital to meet him, he begged them not to drop him for the movie. The filmmakers assured him that not only will they not drop him from their upcoming movie, they will make several movies starring him in the future! They kept their word & waited for two months for him to literally get back on his feet.
Actors & people have a notion that a hit debut will lead to a flood of acting offers. Alas! it is not that easy. Salim Khan had to use his industry connections for his talented Salman Khan to land acting offers after delivering a huge hit in Maine Pyaar Kiya. So you can imagine how difficult it must have been for Kartik. In the first phase of his career it was only his movies with his mentor & director – Luv Ranjan that were succeeding at the box office. Kartik was cast opposite frequent co-star Nushrat Bharucha in Akaash Vaani by filmmaker Subhash Ghai, but it flopped. All his other movies with other directors flopped. But his career got a new lease of life with the 100cr+ grossing ‘Sonu Ki Titu Ki Sweety’.
By this time Kartik had understood the art of script selection. He followed this success up with Lukka Chuppi & Pati, Patni Aur Woh. Kartik has a slew of interesting films for release. He is here to stay for the next 4-5 years for sure, irrespective of the fate of his upcoming films. He is now a part of the Dharma camp. He has learnt from his past that there needs for a buzz to be created for a celeb’s stardom to grow. That explains his investing in the services of a PR firm, which keeps him in the news. His affairs with Sara Ali Khan, Ananya Pandey – which may be fake, do the job of creating a buzz. His success coupled with his PR managers are ensuring that brand Kartik Aaryan continues to thrive.
As mentioned earlier, he has promising movies with noted filmmakers lined up. While he can afford that one odd flop, he needs to ensure that most of his upcoming movies succeed in a big way to get into the league of young superstars like Ranveer Singh, Ranbir Kapoor, Varun Dhawan & Tiger Shroff. While he will keep getting acting jobs, flops will mean he will get relegated to the league of actors like Arjun Kapoor, Siddharth Malhotra, Sunny Singh etc.
While Kartik has shown his acting prowess in romance & comedy, he is yet to prove his versatility by succeeding in movies from action, horror, drama genres. Starring in biopic would be a good option. Continuing to star in romantic comedies would lead to his fans getting bored after 5-6 years.
We had mentioned earlier in one of our articles, how Kartik had to lease a BMW when Sonu Ki Titu Ki Sweety released to keep up with image of a successful celeb. He couldn’t afford to buy one. It was only recently that he bought a house for himself. with his continuing successes he can now afford to won several imported cars & luxurious houses.
We wish Kartik Aaryan all the very best & wish his makes it to the very top!
