The fifth season starts off with Richard(Thomas Middleditch) & his team getting new offices. They have a new team of coders who are hired to work on Richard’s vision of a new decentralized internet. Jian Yang tries to prove that Erlich is dead in order to usurp his property. Although he succeeds initially a series of events leads to him going back to China.
As usual the cast is superb. Gilfoyle’s dead pan dialogue delivery style & his quarrels with Dinesh takes the cake. They have been doing nothing new in terms of their character traits, but it doesn’t bore you one minute! There is too much happening in the 20 odd minutes to let your mind wander. The jokes are hilarious. The screenplay is superb & keeps you guessing till the last minute. Gavin Belson being back in full form as the CEO of Hooli was welcome. Fans hoping for the romance to blossom between Monica & Richard will have to wait longer.
T.J Miller was one of the best characters of the show. It is sad how he was written off the show due to his personal troubles. Other iconic characters like Big Head(Josh Brenner) too doesn’t have much of a role this season. We do hope to more of them in the sixth season.
Fans of the show definitely won’t be disappointed with this one. Do watch it soon, if you haven’t already!
