It is said that although the films do big business at the box office, the producer cannot make a profit. The reason for this is the huge salary they have to give to kollywood stars. Rajinikanth - Rs 60 Cr

Presently the actor is said to be charging between Rs 45-50 crore, making him the second most top paid actor. 

Ajith- Rs 40-50 Cr

Thala enjoys a huge fan base around the world. Many reports suggest that after hitting success with Viswasam, Ajith raised his remuneration and took home Rs 50 crore for Nerkonda Paarvai.

As the actor entered into politics and announced that he has retired from films, Kamal Haasan, who was one of the main actors, has stepped down from his acting career. Suriya– Rs 20-22 Cr

Suriya is a wonderful actor, though being a tamil star he also enjoys wide popularity in telugu. And with Kaappaan getting good openings at the box office, Suriya has managed to be among the highest paid stars. In Soolalai Pottru, the actor has charged higher. As per reports he took Rs 20-22 crore for the film.

Vikram – RS 20 Cr

Those who watched Vikram's "I" would probably know! How dedicated an actor can be towards a role? Chiyaan Vikram has a loyal fan base and is one of the leading stars in the Tamil industry. His latest films, Kadaram Kondan, has flopped at box office and he charges Rs 20 crore for these movies.

Dhanush – Rs 15 Cr

From past few years though the actor does Tamil films, he always tries to attract the pan-Indian audience and he maintains in doing both experimental and commercial films together. Dhanush made his first appearance in Hollywood with the recently released The Extraordinary Journey Of The Fakir and reports indicate that the actor has increased his salary. From now on for the upcoming projects Dhanush will charge no less than 15Cr for one film.

Sivakarthikeyan – Rs10-12 Cr

Sivakarthikeyan is one of the newcomers to the list and his popularity has skyrocketed.

His movies are doing well among the masses and he is one of the bankable stars today. With a few more movies in his kitty, the actor charges Rs 10-12 crore.

Vijay Sethupathi – Rs 8-10 Cr

Vijay Sethupathi is one of the most popular actors in South India. The actor makes sure he brings a good film every year. He recently made his debut in Malayalam with Macroni Mathai and is also looking forward to starring in other language movies as well. Although reports suggest that the actor has increased his salary after Sye raa Narasimhaa Reddy, Vijay Sethupathi is currently charging Rs 8-10 crore..

Karthi – Rs 8 Cr

There was a time when STR used to be among the highest paid actors but due to back to back flops, the actor stayed away and it was Karthi who took his place. Karthi has many hit films lined up like — Kadaikutty Singam and Dev. Post his association with Mani Ratnam, the actor has been in high demand. Karthi charges at least Rs 8 crore per film.
