“TANHAJI, THE UNSUNG WARRIOR” which is directed by OM ROUT, is an epic “INDIAN BIOGRAPHICAL PERIOD” Tale, based film starring Ajay Devgan(Taanaji Malsudare), Saif Ali Khan(Uday Singh)

experience of Maratha era which is full of brave battles, including a famous battle of Kondhana, fought between A Maratha military general Tanhaji Malusare under Shivaji Maharaj & Udhay Bhan Rathod under Mughal
emperor Aurangzeb(appointed by Jai Singh I of a ruler of Amber and army general of Aurangzeb).
The film surely will be a huge success with such a powerful storyline and excellent cast in it,
The film has a BUDGET OF 150 CRORE INR, same as Brahmashtra.
PLOT
The film is based on “4 FEBRUARY 1670″(17th century), first-ever Surgical strike which took place against Powerful Mughals to regain the
control on KONDHANA FORT from Mughal to prevent the invasion of Mughal empire in southern India, It is considered as the important war which will
eventually, decide the fate of south India.
Initially, In 1670 The protagonist of the film(Tanhaji) was busy in preparation of his son Rayaba’s wedding, at sudden Shivaji summoned Tanhaji to give him the charge to recapture the kondhana fort, Tanhaji immediately stop all the preparations and left his son’s wedding for his duty’s call. He took this as the opportunity to prove his worth and to die on the battlefield in pride for the Maratha empire.
Tanhaji, was leading a group of 300 troops under his charge to make the mission possible while reaching the foot of the fort on a hill and detachment of his soldiers scaled the foot of the western side on a dark night with the help of domesticated BENGAL MONITOR Lizard called as Ghorpad and the name of the tanhaji’s ghorpad was Yashwanti.People use to say that, He tied the ropes and send the lizard crawling up the top of the fort. Initially, the first two attempts were failed but they finally succeed in the third attempt.
They finally reached and opened the Kalyan Darwaza and signaled another 500 soldiers of Maratha empire which are led by Suryaj(a younger brother) who were waiting outside of the palace, to attack the army of the Uday Bhan Rathod to take the control of the fort.
During the battle, Tanhaji broke his shield but continued to fight bravely and tied his upper garment over in defending hand to ward off Udhay Bhan’s blows finally, the war ended with a tragic end as the hero, Tanhaji was critically wounded and died while fighting in the battle.
In, the end Shivaji struck with grief and expressed his sorrow by a famous saying–
” GAD ALA, PAN SINGHNA GELA(“GOT THE FORT BUT LOST THE LION”)”
As to pay a Tribute and gratitude to the brave soldier, He re-named the fort by SINGHAGAD(LION’S FORT).
Some Additional Facts
Treaty Of Purandar(1665)
5 years before the battle for kondhana, JUNE 11,1665 there was a treaty which was an agreement between the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb (On behalf of Jai Singh I)and Shivaji Maharaj,
As Shivaji Maharaj was forced to agree after Jai Singh besieged PURANDAR FORT. Shivaji realized that war would bring serious repercussions or might open a nasty pandora’s box which directly affects the Maratha empire causing heavy loss and suffering to soldiers. He eventually chose to agree with the Treaty.
THE MAJOR POINTS WHICH WERE INTRODUCED IN THE TREATY:
1. Shivaji kept twelve forts, along with an area worth an income of 100,000 (1 lakh) huns.
2. Shivaji was required to help the Mughals whenever required.
3. Shivaji’s son Sambhaji was tasked with the command of a 5,000-strong force under the Mughals.
4. If Shivaji wanted to claim the Konkan area under Vijapur’s control, he would have to pay 4 million (40 lakh) Hons to the Mughals.
5. He had to give up his forts at Purandar, Rudramal,” Kondana”, Karnala, Lohagad, Isagad, Tung, Tikona, Rohida fort, Nardurga, Mahuli, Bhandardurga, Palaskhol, Rupgad, Bakhtgad, Morabkhan, Manikgad (Raigad), Saroopgad, Sakargad, Marakgad, Ankola, Songad, and Fort Mangad.
