Akshay Kumar was born on the 9th of September 1967, as Rajiv Hari Om Bhatia in Amritsar, Punjab. Before becoming one of Bollywood's biggest actors, producers, and television personalities, he grew up in Mumbai and attended Don Bosco High School (Class 12) and took college courses at Guru Nanak Khalsa College for a short time. He learnt martial arts after leaving college. His father, Hari Om Bhatia, was an Army Officer; his mother, Aruna Bhatia, is a Homemaker. 

Akshay Kumar worked as a chef, an assistant photographer, and ultimately as a background dancer before getting into films. In 2001, Akshay Kumar married Twinkle Khanna, who is an actress, with whom he has two children, Aarav and Nitara. He is someone who refuses to smoke or drink alcohol and will often perform his own stunts, leading people to compare him with Jackie Chan.
