Animesh Kujur Biography In 2025

Animesh Kujur is considered to be one of the brightest stars of Indian athletics and is considered to be the fastest sprinter that India has ever produced. On June 2, 2003, Animesh was born in a small tribal village called Ghuitangar, located in the Jashpur district of Chhattisgarh. One of the most inspirational stories is Animesh's journey from barefoot running in the fields of his village to being the holder of several national sprint records. By 2025, Animesh will only be 22 years of age, yet he has already made a significant mark in the history of Indian athletics, setting the Indian national records in both the 100 meters and 200 meters.

Animesh has been raised in a disciplined, humble home. His father, Amrit Kujur, is a Deputy Superintendent of Police in the Chhattisgarh Police, and his mother, Reena Kujur, is a police inspector. With such an upbringing in a police family, Animesh learned very early to be disciplined, focused and to work hard. Animesh's family life has been one of simplicity and sports, and as he grew up in this environment, sports became a way of life rather than a career.

Animesh began his education at Mission Higher Secondary School located in the Mahasamund district of Chhattisgarh, where he attended school through Class 5. After his father was transferred, Animesh moved on to St. Michael School located in the Kanker district of Chhattisgarh.

Animesh's journey as an athlete started to take on an exciting new direction after his Coach Dinesh Tandhi identified potential talent during a state-level competition that took place in 2021, the discovery was made based on his capacity to produce incredible speed without any assistance, including a lack of professional coach, spikes or any/all of the ancillary structure and support resources required at that level. He experienced his major milestone when, at the National Open Athletics Championships in Bengaluru, he set a new meeting record in the 200m in 2023 and announced his arrival onto the national athletics stage. The following two years provided a lot of success for Animesh during that time frame. He achieved a gold medal in the 200m during the Federation Cup 2024, and by then, Animesh was beginning to earn fast times in Europe. Animesh established a new national record for the 200m during the Federation Cup held in Kochi. He also earned a bronze medal in the Asian Championships held in South Korea one month after breaking a personal record while running a time of 20.32 seconds while suffering from a fever, respectively. However, while competing in Greece, he made history by becoming the first Indian to ever surpass the 10.20-second barrier in the 100m race (running a time of 10.18 sec).

Animesh was unbeatable in the sprint events at the 2025 national games and won three gold medals in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay. Currently training at a High Performance Centre (HPC) in Odisha under the direction of several world-class coaches, he is improving his overall technique, especially his race start technique. Due to Animesh's incredible finishing speed, he is known as the “Usain Bolt of India.” His ultimate goal is to represent India at the world championships and the Olympics, and he is India's best hope to win a sprint medal on the world stage.
