Early Life & Education
Ann Nyberg is from South Bend, Indiana, where she was born in 1957; as of mid-2025 she is about 68 years old. Ann began writing when she was 8 and received a diary from her mother, which was the beginning of a lifelong joy for storytelling. Ann graduated from Purdue University with a degree in journalism in 1979. She made the switch from business/retailing to journalism during her sophomore year.

Ann began her broadcasting career as a reporter in an ABC affiliate station in Indiana and then worked in Oklahoma City, and KFOR and KOCO before settling with WTNH-TV in New Haven, Connecticut, in the mid-1980s. Ann worked as WTNH's longest full-time female anchor/reporter and anchored the 5, 6, 10 and 11 pm newscasts and produced her own long-form storytelling show, NYBERG. In her career Ann has interviewed local and national personalities as well as many everyday people. She has also covered assignments in Cuba, and stayed at the Vatican during Pope John Paul II.

Ann is married to Dr. Mark Mamula, a professor at Yale School of Medicine. The couple has three daughters, including a pair of twins, and they share two dogs: Henry Watson (a rescued Coon Hound) and Mr. Trip Meeshu (a Golden Retriever).
