Bala Latha Mallavarapu is an excellent and accomplished IAS officer. She achieved recognition and the hype by passing the UPSC civil service exams not just once but twice, in the years 2004 and 2016. She is from Hyderabad, Telangana. She has worked as the Deputy Director for the Ministry of Defence. Even after she lost one of her leg to polio at the age of just 11 months, Bala Latha was determined to conquer all kinds of barriers in order to complete her 10th and 12th grades as a private candidate and then further seek higher education at Osmania University.


She has a reputation in the civil service community for providing guidance to an extensive amount of UPSC candidates. Many of her existing subordinates proceeded on to work for the nation. Her effort to assist others towards achieving their aspirations and goals has rendered her a commonplace, respected, and widely recognized character in the civil service world.
