Chirag Paswan, born on 31 October 1982, is an Indian politician and an ex-actor. In June 2024, he became the Minister of Food Processing Industries.

Family
Son of the late Ram Vilas Paswan, a legendary statesman and founder of Lok Janshakti Party (LJP). Chirag is his son, and Reena Sharma is his former mother. He has one blood sister, Nisha Paswan, and two blood sisters, Asha, and Usha Paswan- all of whom are present in politics. Asha Paswan is active; she is a Rashtriya Janata Dal nominee. 
As of 2024, Chirag Paswan is not married. The public keeps a watch on his marriage.

Education
Chirag was educated at the Air Force Golden Jubilee Institute in New Delhi. His education gave him the best discipline and values. After that, he took his graduation in Computer Engineering at Bundelkhand University but dropped out during the third semester to enter the political arena.

Film Career
Before turning to politics, he had been an actor. The first film he did was a 2011 Bollywood romantic comedy. He shared screens with Kangana Ranaut in Miley Naa Miley Hum, another romantic comedy that was also a box office dud but gave him an inkling of his industry.
 
Political Career:
Chirag entered the political domain in 2014. He won the Indian Parliament election as an LJP candidate from Jamui constituency. In the 2019 elections, he won a much larger voter base. He further consolidated himself within the Bihar political scenario.

After his father died in 2020, Chirag took the bold decision to leave the National Democratic Alliance and contest the Bihar assembly elections as an independent candidate. In 2021, Chirag became the president of one faction of the LJP after a split within the party. His perseverance was rewarded in the 2024 elections when he won from the Hajipur constituency.

Ministerial Role
The appointment of Chirag as Union Minister of Food Processing Industries in 2024 marked a defining point in his career and would eventually be able to decide on policies for the food processing industry in India.

NGO Work
Besides the political career, Chirag began the NGO "Chirag Ka Rojgar," an NGO working towards employment generation for the youth in Bihar.

Net Worth
Chirag Paswan has claimed that his total assets in his election affidavit stand above Rs 2.68 crore, which comprises Rs 1.66 crores of movable assets: cash, bank deposits, shares, and gold jewelry amounting to Rs 14.40 lakh.
