Bollywood Blind Item: Superstar Isn't Cutting Down On Work
This superstar was the biggest box office draw in the country for a short while before the pan-India superstars from down South took over. He used to have 4-5 releases every year & most of them used to be hits. But the pandemic changed the content preferences of the movie-going audience. Shoddy scripts don't work anymore, even if the movie stars big names. He has barely had 1-2 successes in the last few years. His producers have bled money. As per a source, his well-wishers have been advising him to reduce his workload & be choosy about the movies he greenlights. But he has not been paying heed to this advice. He is used to a certain schedule & not being on set working on his movies is not something he is used to. He is incredibly talented, but a demanding audience won't come to the theatres unless the word of mouth convinces them to watch it right away & not wait for its OTT release. A few more bad years & he will be forced to take up character roles.
Till the 90's, actors used to work on 5-6 movies at a time. Many actors have claimed that they signed 15 films together. The stardom of the actors was judged on the basis of the sheer number of movies they used to sign at a time. An A-list superstar was laughed at when he decided to go against the tide & work only on 1 movie every year - which has now become the norm. He now picks barely 1 project every 4 years. His contemporary actor, who was once his fierce rival too, has turned choosy. Actors should ideally not work on more than 1-2 projects every year so that they look convincing in the roles they pick. Gone are the days when actors could sport long hair when they played army men or speak urban Hindi when they are playing rustic characters.
Can you guess the celebs we are talking about?
