In the last few days, a lot of discussions have centered around a top superstar & a younger star being a humungous amount for their upcoming movie. We were wondering how they are able to justify their salaries considering that the worldwide gross of their movies is just a bit more than their salaries. How will they account for their salaries of other cast & crew? What about cost of production & promotion? That's when a source informed us that the producer has been inflating the production budget for the sake of earning more subsidies from the foreign government. The movie in question will be shot at a foreign locale. The country gives subsidies to movies that are shot in there as it boosts tourism & helps create jobs. The inflating of star salaries also creates more hype around the movie.

We believe that Bollywood has taken a leaf out of Tollywood's & Kollywood's playbook. Stars down South are notorious for inflating their salaries for the sake of hyping their movies. Their reported salaries are higher than that of their Bollywood counterparts, despite their worldwide gross being much lesser-except when it is a project helmed by their numero uno filmmakers.
