Know About LPG Gas E-Kyc, Gas cylinders

LPG is an abbreviation for Liquefied Petroleum Gas. This is one of the most important fuel sources to millions of households in India. Of late, it has been newly mandated by the government that consumers cannot get their LPG gas cylinders unless they have undergone e-KYC or electronic Know Your Customer. Besides, Indane Gas consumers have to get their e-KYC done by May 31. If the same is not complied with, it may lead to not issuing them gas cylinders from June 1, which may pose serious issues for the beneficiaries of Ujjwala Yojana, a plan of the central government, giving LPG connections to below-poverty-line households.

What is the LPG e-KYC?

The e-KYC process would ease the identification of the customer and would only allow authenticated users to access LPG subsidies and services. Indian Oil Corporation has proposed this initiative for all Indane Gas consumers, be it Ujjwala Yojana beneficiaries. All consumers need to complete this process before May 31, or they might face a service disruption in gas cylinders afterward.

Around 50,000 recipients are being targeted through Ujjwala Yojana alone in the district, and the immediate threat of discontinuation of gas cylinders looms over them in case they do not complete their e-KYC. A number of families utterly reliant on the government scheme may also have their enjoyment from cooking curtailed due to this reason.

Warnings Issued and Action by Indian Oil

Indian Oil Corporation has strictly cautioned each and every holder of Indane Gas agency to complete their e-KYC as early as possible. Maa Durga Indane Gas Agency operator claimed that Indian Oil is seeking consumers for completing the requirement to avoid a stoppage in getting the gas. Consumers will not be allowed to book or get LPG gas cylinders if they fail to complete the task from June 1 onwards.

Indian Oil has taken several step-throughs to raise awareness of the process of e-KYC among the customers. Gas agency operators and officers have reportedly been visiting customers to inform them that they would not receive deliveries of gas cylinders if this process was not complete.

Other Additional Safety Measures by Indian Oil

Asides from mandating e-KYC, Indian Oil has also issued a few other key decisions that have the intent of increasing consumer convenience and safety. For instance, the company has announced that every LPG consumer needs to undergo a safety check. A company had even fixed inspection personnel who would visit a home belonging to an Indane gas user and carry out free inspections. The inspection service that used to require payment is now being provided free of charge.

During these tests, they will educate customers about some critical safety measures, such as the stove being laid above the cylinder to minimize the risk of fires. They are always warned to watch what is happening while they are cooking LPG. If any equipment fails during the test, it must be replaced, and the consumers have to pay for it.

Moreover, it is a must that the gas pipe is changed after four and a half years. This can result in gas leaks when they are not changed timely enough. This can prove to be a very hazardous fire risk. Indian Oil has now implemented DAC delivery, a new system through which gas cylinder bookings of a consumer have become quite easier.

MANDATORY LPG E-KYC forms an important milestone to ensure that gas cylinders are hassle-free and misuse is prevented. Consumers are asked to complete the mandatory procedure before May 31, so there would be no halt in the supply of LPG gas cylinders. Simultaneously, with improved safety protocols by the companies Indian Oil, for safe usage of LPG within household premises, importance adds up to the above function.
