In cities, citizens pay an annual property tax on houses, shops, and other commercial buildings. Therefore, this is yet another major source of income for the municipal bodies, which they invest in public services. As regards payment of property tax, if it gets delayed the government charges interest on it. In a recent move, Haryana government granted relief on interest for property tax payments.

One of the significant measures taken by the government is a 30% relief on the interest charged on the property tax amount unpaid. Relief earlier was only of 10% on interest. Therefore, it follows that a citizen has to pay just 70% of the interest accrued on the property tax along with the amount, provided he pays before July 31, 2023. All urban citizens will benefit from this hike in rebate cut down their expenses.

There is an annual property tax collection from the residents of Haryana. The amount so collected is being spent by the urban local bodies to develop civic infrastructure and for other necessary services. Officials from the Urban Local Bodies department in Haryana have said that their attempts would be an endeavor to inform property owners of this 30 percent rebate, so as to avail the offer.

How to Pay Property Tax Online

People in Haryana can pay property tax through offline as well as online means. In case one wants to proceed with the online process, he should follow these steps: -

Step 1 : Website login-ulbharyana.gov.in
Step 2 : Online Services
Click on "Payment of Property Tax Dues."
Step 3 : Log in using your registered mobile number, or sign in for the first time, if you are a new user.
Step 4 : Step 4: Enter Property detail district, locality, house number, and owner's name.
It can be settled in options such as Credit/Debit Card, UPI, Mobile Wallet, or RTGS/IMPS.
With these adjustments, property tax can now be conveniently and substantially settled by the people of Haryana.
