Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith have been the talk of the town since the 2022 Oscars ceremony. Everyone knows how Will Smith went on stage and slapped Chris Rock, Oscars presenter, right across the face when the latter made fun of the former's wife's medical condition. The two first met when Jada auditioned for the role of Will's girlfriend in the movie The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, in the year 1994. Jada did not end up getting the role and the two actors went their separate ways since Will Smith was then married to his first wife, Sheree Zampino. Things did not work out between Will and Sheree and they ended up getting a divorce in the year 1995. Will considers divorce to be the ultimate failure in his entire adult life. Later in the year 2018, in an episode of Red Table Talk, Will revealed that he did feel a strong connection with Pinkett when they met for the first time, but since he did not believe in divorce, he did not go forward with his relationship with Pinkett while he was married to Sheree. When he realized he was supposed to be with Pinkett, he ended his marriage with Sheree. He then called up Jada and asked if she was single, and when he heard that she wasn't seeing anyone at the moment, he told her "Cool. You're seeing me now."

The two started dating in 1995, which was the year of Will and Sheree's divorce. They got engaged in 1997, and found out that they were pregnant shortly after that.
