Jailer release postponed; Rajinikanth’s starrer film will NOT clash with Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan 2

For his upcoming film, veteran Tamil movie star Rajinikanth will work with acclaimed director Nelson Dilipkumar. Jailer, the working title of the eagerly anticipated project, is presently shooting its last scenes. The extremely enticing Jailer posters, location stills, and special trailer give away that Rajinikanth's film will be a straight-up action thriller. It was previously stated that the Nelson Dilipkumar-directed film would be released in theatres in the summer of 2023. However, current indications imply that Jailer has been delayed.

The release of the Rajinikanth-starring film has been delayed if the most recent news is to be believed. The producers chose to delay the release because they did not want to rush through the ambitious films' post-production tasks. Due to the busy schedules of the well-known actors who play important roles in the movie, Jailer's filming is still ongoing. The most recent information indicates that the Nelson Dilipkumar-directed movie would be released on August 11, 2023. The production team may soon formally reveal the new release date along with a significant update.

Thus, contrary to earlier predictions, the most recent rumors indicate that Mani Ratnam's eagerly anticipated period drama Ponniyin Selvan 2 would not conflict with Rajinikanth's action thriller. Unaware of what was in store, Tamil moviegoers anticipated a massive box office battle this summer between Jailer and the eagerly anticipated sequel to the highest-grossing period piece in Tamil cinema. Nelson Dilipkumar's movie is no longer in contention, though, and Ponniyin Selvan 2 may receive a large standalone release with a record-breaking number of screens around the world.

One of the most eagerly anticipated Tamil films of the year is without a doubt the highly anticipated Mani Ratnam film, a sequel to the super-hit Ponniyin Selvan 1 that came out in theatres in September 2022. The 5 main protagonists from the first film, played by Chiyaan Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karthi, Trisha Krishnan, and Jayam Ravi, will return in the sequel. In addition to the original star ensemble, the production is anticipated to include several fresh stars in significant parts. With the release of its debut single this year, the second week of February will mark the beginning of Ponniyin Selvan 2's promotional campaign.

The movie Jailer, in which Rajinikanth plays Muthuvel Pandian, a jail guard known as Jailer, is advertised as a darkly humorous thriller. Mohanlal, a superstar in Malayalam, would appear in the movie on a particular occasion. Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Vasanth Ravi, Vinayakan, and others play supporting parts in the film, which also stars Kannada actor Shiva Rajkumar as the main antagonist. There are rumors that Sivakarthikeyan will make a brief appearance. The project's music was composed by Anirudh Ravichander. The photographer serving as a director is Vijay Kartik Kannan. Under the illustrious brand of Sun Pictures, Kalanithi Maran is the financier of Jailer.
