The couple has been married for 17 years now and has a daughter named Aashi Tripathi. Pankaj made Mridula in 1993 when she was in Class 9 and he was two year senior to her. During his sister’s wedding he first saw Mridula on the balcony of the terrace and thought to spend the rest of the life with her without even knowing who she is.

These days it is very easy for the couples to communicate with each other but way back then scenario was different. Writing letters was considered a big thing at that time. They could not interact with each other. Pankaj used to visit his sister once in 6 months and that would give them chance to spend some quality time together.

After 8 years of their first meeting, Mridula’s parents found a marriage alliance for her. Pankaj had to go away to study National School of Drama, Mridula decided to break up the marriage. Finally on 24 December, just a day before her birthday, Pankaj spoke to all the members of the family and Mridula, after months of waiting got the chance to speak to him. After dating for almost 12 years, the couple finally got married on 15 January, 2004.
