In a recent interview, Priyanka Chopra discussed the film Jee Le Zaraa, starring Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif, and how it will give women actors more agency in their lives.

Priyanka Chopra, who recently returned to Mumbai after a three-year absence, has spoken out about her upcoming film, Jee Le Zaraa. Farhan Akhtar directs the film, which also stars Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif. It will be Priyanka's first time working with the ladies. It has been making headlines since its announcement. Fans are ecstatic to see this fantastic trio on the big screen. However, due to the pandemic, the film's production schedule was pushed back. In a recent interview, Priyanka discussed the film and how it will give female actors more agency in their lives.

How Priyanka Chopra's phone call drew Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif to Jee Le Zara

Priyanka, who had her baby girl Malti Marie via surrogacy earlier this year, spoke to PTI about being second to men in her career. According to the actress, "I spent a long time in my career where women were always second to men. The heroes decide where the film will be shot, who will be cast, and what will happen. It's tedious. We live in a time when women need to have control over their lives." Priyanka also mentioned how she contacted Alia and Katrina before inviting anyone else to join the project, including Farhan. She stated that she wanted to make a Hindi film on "women's terms."

What made her think of this? "I called Alia and Katrina before Farhan or anyone came," Priyanka added (onboard). I started by calling the girls. I was sitting at home, wanting to make a Hindi film. But I wanted it to be on women's terms. My generation of actresses paved the way for the next generation of actresses to be the faces on the posters and sell movies. So I really wanted to gather my friends and say, "Let's make a movie that will do well at the box office and be ours..." So the stars aligned, and we decided to go ahead with it. We're hoping to start shooting it soon.

The announcement of Jee Le Zaraa

The film was announced in August of last year. Priyanka shared a cute photo with Alia and Katrina and explained how they met for the project. A portion of her note stated, "It only took three years to get all of our schedules in sync, but we persevered and succeeded! This one is dedicated to sisterhood, friendship, and breaking the mould!! I'm excited to hit the road with Aloo and Katty. My heart is happy."
