Sanya Malhotra to Star in the New Netflix Film Kathal

Sanya Malhotra plays the lead in Netflix’s new female-centric drama-comedy film, Kathal. Kathal is the directorial debut of Yashowardhan Mishra from Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms and Guneet Monga’s Sikhya Entertainment. He has co-written it with the award-winning writer, Ashok Mishra. 

The Dangal star unveiled the news of the upcoming project on Instagram earlier this week. She uploads a short video and captions it, “… Dhoondhne aa rahe hai hum. Inspector Mahima. Kathal, Coming soon on Netflix!”

She reveals that she will be playing the role of a police officer in the film. The movie’s plot revolves around a politician whose precious “kathals” (jackfruits) have been stolen. Mahima, a young police officer, played by Sanya Malhotra, tries to solve the eccentric case to prove herself. The film marks Sanya’s return to Netflix after her previous films, Ludo, Paggalait, and Meenakshi Sundareshwar. Kathal also stars Anant Joshi who is well-known for performing the role of Bhaskar Tripathi in the ALTBalaji web series, Virgin Bhaskar.
