Sushmita Sen Recently Reveals Her Reason to Take a Long Break from the Industry

Sushmita Sen is one of the most loved and talented actresses in the Bollywood industry. For the ones who are unversed, Sen is one of the most successful Bollywood actresses and former Miss Universe.

In a recent conversation, Sen opened up about why she was absent from the industry for a decade. She was prioritizing raising her two daughters- Renee and Alisah in these years. She has also been very active on social media where she keeps sharing her daily routine and how she spends time with her daughters.

Sen’s last film before her long break from the silver screen was the 2010 comedy, Dulha Mil Gaya, starring Fardeen Khan alongside Shah Rukh Khan’s cameo.

She made an amazing comeback from her break and returned to acting after starring in the Disney+ Hotstar web series, Aarya in 2020 directed by Ram Madhvani. Two seasons are already streaming on Hotstar and the third one is under production. And even after two seasons, the actress is enjoying several commendations. Her choosing an OTT (Over The Top) platform instead of the mainstream Bollywood film has left many audiences and fans confused.

In an interview with Hindustan Times, she revealed why she chose OTT instead of a Bollywood film for a comeback. “I think the 10-years hiatus set the priorities in order. It told me what I need to do and what not to do. Mainstream cinema wasn’t giving me what I wanted. A lot of time it was a preconceived notion of my age and my screen age and that I hadn’t worked for ten years.”, acknowledged the actress.

She further goes on to say that because of her inability or unwillingness to network, she had missed out on opportunities. “I don’t know what the mindset was or maybe I was not putting myself out there. I have never been good at that. I am not good at networking. It did not work for me”, Sushmita says.
