Top South Indian movies worldwide: Baahubali: The Conclusion on Top, Kantara on ninth, RRR on the rise following Japan release

Seven of the top ten highest-grossing films of all time were released in the last twelve months, beginning with Pushpa in December of the previous year. South India has produced numerous high-grossing films in recent years. Kantara, the most recent addition to the list, is now ranked ninth on the list with overall earnings of Rs. 396 crores. Kantara's worldwide revenue is split

as in India it grosses Rs. 359 crores and $4.60 million (Rs. 37 crores) elsewhere. The movie is nearing the end of its box office run and is expected to surpass the 400 crore milestone.

RRR is yet another movie that is gaining popularity after it was released in the "land of the rising sun" last month. The movie had earned 336,709,530 ($2.34 million) in Japan as of the previous weekend. Its overall box office earnings rose to Rs. 1132 crores with this, which is around Rs. 50 crores less than KGF 2. Because Japan is a market where movies can have extraordinarily long shelf lives, it's tough to estimate the exact amount, but you should expect another $2 to $3 million from there.

RRR has a good chance of winning the Oscars and other awards and accolades in the West, which could give the movie a run in some Western markets and possibly seal the deal. However, that solitary won't be sufficient to beat KGF 2.

The following are the top ten South Indian movies globally in box office revenue:

1. Baahubali: The Conclusions-  Rs. 1753 crores.

2. KGF 2 - 1188 crores rupees

3. RRR - 1132 crores rupees

4.2.0 - 666 crores rupees

5. Baahubali: The Beginning- 581 crores rupees

6. Ponniyin Selvan:Part 1-  Rs. 496 crores.

7. Vikram: 430 crores of rupees

8. Saaho - 419 crores rupees

9. Kantara: 396 crores rupees
