What Margot Robbie Said About Lady Gaga's Harley Quinn Casting

Despite Margot Robbie not returning to her iconic role of Harley Quinn in Joker: Folie á Deux, she is still enthusiastic about the DC villain's future. Joaquin Phoenix is set to reprise his role as Joker, with Lady Gaga taking over the role of Quinn. During the screening of Babylon, Robbie's latest film, she talked to ET about Gaga filling her shoes.

"I think she's going to do an amazing job. I'm so excited, it's all I could've ever hoped for Harley was that she would become one of those characters, kinda like Batman or Hamlet, that gets handed from actor to actor, everyone gets a go at playing them," Robbie told ET. "So, I think it's just credit to her as a character that people want to see her in multiple iterations. I'm excited."

Robbie is renowned for her portrayal of Quinn in Suicide Squad, Birds of Prey, and The Suicide Squad. Recently, the actress and producer informed Variety that she had been advocating for a romantic relationship between Quinn and Poison Ivy for a prolonged period of time.

Lady Gaga is a renowned artist with 13 Grammy Awards who made her acting debut in 2013 with Machete Kills. She was part of the American Horror Story in two of its seasons (Hotel and Roanoke) and gained recognition for her role in 2018's remake of A Star is Born, alongside Bradley Cooper. The movie was nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars and received positive reviews for Gaga's performance as Ally. Most recently, she was featured in Ridley Scott's House of Gucci. Her next film, Joker: Folie à Deux, is scheduled to be out in 2024.

Robbie has taken on the role of the globally renowned doll in Greta Gerwig's upcoming movie Barbie, slated for a July premiere. This week, the trailer for the movie, starring Ryan Gosling as Ken, was released.
