Atrangi Re Budget, Box Office, Release Date

A Romantic Drama by Aanand L. Rai, Atrangi Re is a movie released in 2021. The film star cast features Dhanush, Sara Ali Khan, and Akshay Kumar in lead roles. It is basically the love triangle of Rinku (Sara) and Vishnu (Dhanush), Sajjad (Akshay). Krishan Kumar, Aruna Bhatia, Himanshu Sharma, as well as Aanand L. Rai have presented this film, which was penned by Himanshu Sharma. Atrangi Re was exclusive only on Disney+ Hotstar  on December 24, 2021.

Coming with a reported budget of around 45 crore INR, the overall expenses shot to 90-100 crore INR because of the production cost and the whopping fee Akshay charged in the tune of 27 crore. Interestingly, the film sold its digital rights to Disney+ Hotstar for an astonishing 90-100 crore INR. Touted for its strong digital footprints, the film, as of the OTT release, has gained almost 24 million views.

Crucially, Atrangi Re didn't reach there through mixed to positive reactions. IMDb rated the film 6.8/10, while popular movie critic Taran Adarsh gave 3.5/5. This was practically complimented in other notable publications like Times of India, Koimoi, and Zee News which rated it at 3.5/5, which further hailed the performances- especially Dhanush's and the emotional profundity of the narrative. Still, some not very complementary views in certain sections did find their way. It only could manage to gain 2/5 from The Quint, whereas FirstPost gave it 1/5, as the former panned the story and screenplay along with their treatment in the overall storyline.

This movie, along with its songs by A.R. Rahman, was indeed what made the film hit, but the way it dealt with mental health and the fantasy as a whole was, in some respect, argued by critics and viewers as well. But Atrangi Re turned out to be strong, especially with performances. Here's the list of its performances in brief. This is indeed a crucial film in the Hindi releases of 2021.
