Baadshaho Review

Is Baadshaho as good as some of the other movies in the heist drama genre? Is it worth your time? Read our review of Ajay Devgan's latest flick

Bollywood has had its share of heist dramas. They follow a typical storyline – of a wronged hero, who wants to avenge the insult. He then goes on to assemble a team of 2-5 people with distinct capabilities to help in his plan. I cant think of a single movie where the hero is unable to extract his revenge. Post a few hiccups, the hero manages to rob the villain. What really matters is how well the director is able to narrate the story & that alone determines the fate of the film.

Baadshaho is a movie set during the emergency. It stars Ajay Devgan as Bhawani Singh, the queen (Ileana Dcruz)’s bodyguard & chief of security. As the government orders the army to steal all the queen’s gold & to transport it to Delhi for refusing a Sanjay Gandhi type politician’s sexual advances, the queen orders her trusted bodyguard to steal the gold from the army & hand it over to her.He then assembles his team to help him out with the plan. His team of robbers includes Emraan Hashmi, Sanjay Mishra & Esha Gupta. Vidyut Jamwal plays the role of a army major Seher Singh-in charge of safeguarding the gold being transported to Delhi post stealing it from the queen. The movie manages to keep you entertained till the end. The music is hummable. Sunny Leone looks hot in her item song with Emraan Hashmi. The plot has enough Abbas-Mustanesque twists & turns. Very few will be able to guess the ending. Ajay Devgan & Emraan Hashmi are convincing in their roles. Sanjay Mishra is good & has some really funny one liners. Esha Gupta doesnt have much of a role, although she is there in quite a few scenes. Ileana Dcruz as the distressed Queen Gitanjali Devi is the surpise package of the movie. Likeness of the characters to real life celebrities adds a certain degree of authenticity to the script.

The movie seems to be made keeping the single screen audiences in mind, but caters to the multiplex audience as well. Sunny Leone & Ileana Dcruz have dared to bare. The one liners by Sanjay Mishra & Emraan Hashmi will make the front benchers whistle. Vidyut Jamwal manages to put up a good fight to the main leads. The director- Milan Luthria manages to impress post his previous debacle – Once Upon A Time Dobara. All in all it was a good entertainer, definitely worth a watch!
