It Is Never My Fault

If you were to ask any rapist if he felt remorse over his actions, the victim who wore skimpy clothes or had the courage to venture out late in the night will primarily be blamed. If you were to ask a murderer, he/she would probably blame the victim for angering them & provoking them into the act. Be it any crime the perpetrator feels he/she is not at fault. They will blame anybody & everybody but themselves for the crime. They will never accept the fact that they were wrong. Instead of owning up to their mistakes, they will keep giving lame excuses. Sadly, the same seems to be true with our Bollywood celebs.

List Of Excuses

Maal

While most of the statements out in the media, were not given by the celebs themselves it is shocking how the celebs are not owning up to their mistakes. As per news reports from reputed news brands, the celebs are claiming that they were in fact speaking about cigarettes & not drugs! Do the stars seriously expect the public or the NCB to believe that “maal” is slang for cigarettes? Or that a celeb simply stored the drugs at their place & never consumed it? Why was she storing illegal substances at her place anyway?

Women Are Being Targeted

Some celebs are questioning why only the women celebs are being summoned & interrogated? Are all the male celebs clean?

This again is an absurd allegation. Sara Ali Khan, Rakul Preet Singh’s name was revealed during NCB’s investigation of Rhea Chakraborty. Deepika Padukone & Shraddha Kapoor’s name came into the picture due to Jaya Saha. Jaya Saha was also summoned by NCB due to her name cropping up during Rhea’s interrogation.

Now, what do you expect the NCB to do? Name male celebs even though they weren’t actually named by Rhea or the celeb managers just to show that they are not patriarchal? Would the society ask similar questions if all the celebs named were male? Isn’t that sexist?

Rhea allegedly consumed drugs majorly with Sara, Rakul & SSR. Sushant – the male celeb who used to consume drugs sadly is no more. Sara & Rakul, who are alive have been summoned – what is wrong in this? Sushant’s male friends who were questioned by the NCB are shrewdly not mentioned by these celebs who are crying patriarchy.

As per reports, male celebs too will be summoned soon by the NCB.

BJP’s Vendetta

Other detractors are blaming BJP of indulging in vendetta politics. They claim that the BJP is getting back at Deepika Padukone for supporting the JNU protesters & that Dia Mirza too is targeted for her support for the anti-CAA movement. This claim again is absurd. If a celeb speaks or acts against the BJP, does that mean he/she should be granted immunity from the authorities? Does that mean that the celeb can indulge in any illegal activity & should not be prosecuted?

Even if you assume the BJP is punishing Deepika, why is Sara Ali Khan being meted out the same treatment? One must not forget that Sara Ali Khan was one of the few Muslim celebs who was present at the Bollywood event held in honor of Israeli PM – Benjamin Netanyahu when he came to India last year. She was also seen visiting Hindu religious places with ash smeared on her forehead.

How do you explain Rakul Preet Singh’s being named? She has made no comments against the BJP or PM Modi. She has been given no preferential treatment.

Dear Celebs,

The least we can expect from you is to come clean. You have been caught red-handed with your hand in the cookie jar. Admit that you made a mistake & promise to not repeat them.

You are idolized by millions across the country. The moment your fans hear about your drug consumption habits, they too are sub-consciously drawn to it. Drugs have destroyed lives across several states in India. Udta Punjab has documented how Punjab has been suffering due to the influence of drugs.

The day you joined movies, you knew that your life will always be under public scrutiny, just like any politician or a sports star. There are many privileges you enjoy thanks to you being a public figure. Now please don’t cry about how celebs are unfairly targeted. Yes! you can’t commit mistakes that common people make & expect to get away with it.

If you genuinely feel that some drugs are not harmful or are less harmful, have the courage to say that openly & fight to make it’s consumption legal.

But please, stop making lame excuses & trying to fool us!
