Fact About Virat Kohli's Abandoned Audi R8 Supercar Has A Scam Connection

Overview
An abandoned white Audi R8 that belonged to cricket legend Virat Kohli has been found in Maharashtra outside a police station. Kohli's first R8 model, purchased in 2012, was a supercar that was eventually seized in a hoax. It was sold in 2016.

The Journey of the Car
Since 2015, former Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli has been an avid fan of Audi and an ambassador for the company in India. His relationship with the German automaker is well-known, and in 2012, he purchased the R8 supercar, which garnered attention from both fans and automotive enthusiasts.

Kohli sold his original R8 to Sagar Thakkar, popularly known as Shaggy, through a broker in 2016 after upgrading to a second-generation R8 model, for around Rs. 2.5 crore. Nevertheless, the Thane Crime Branch confiscated the vehicle before the ownership transfer was finalized.

The Fraud
It was then discovered that the buyer, Sagar Thakkar, was the architect of a vast Rs. 500 crore bogus call centre scam. In this operation, around 15,000 US people were tricked by callers impersonating US immigration and tax authorities. Several call centres on Thane, Maharashtra's Mira Road and the adjacent areas were used to run the scam. The officers seized the Audi R8 due to Thakkar's involvement in this scheme.

Present State of the Vehicle
Kohli's once-immaculate Audi R8 has suffered greatly after it was seized by the Thane Police. The supercar has been severely damaged by floods and strong rain, and it has been left in the open without any protection. According to reports, the automobile is currently in really bad shape.

Concerning the Audi R8
Virat Kohli's Audi R8 5.2 FSI coupe, a facelifted variant of the first generation, has designer alloy wheels and black decals. It is painted in 'Ibis White'. The sleek two-seater has an all-black interior with silver-coloured controls and fine leather upholstery. It is a noteworthy model for auto fans because of its 5.2-litre naturally aspirated V10 engine, which is currently discontinued.
