Fact Check: Did Aamir Khan Say That His Kids Are Only Muslims?

Aamir Khan was trolled for his meeting with Turkey’s first lady. Some articles quoted him saying that while his wives are hindus, his kids will be Muslims. But did he actually say that?

We recently wrote an article about Aamir Khan’s meeting with the first lady of Turkey & how he was trolled on social media for this decision. Most of the people we spoke to agreed that the trolling was justified. 36% said the trolling was not justified.

While everyone is entitled to their opinion, we were intrigued by some articles quoting Aamir Khan as saying that while he is a Muslim & his wives are Hindus, his kids will be brought up as Muslims. This is totally opposite of what he had said on Aap Ki Adaalat where he mentioned that his kids are both Hindu & Muslim.

Kangana Ranaut too joined the bandwagon. She quoted an interview that appeared on a website(which we don’t want to name) in which Aamir Khan is alleged to have said that he had made it clear that his kids would be brought up as Muslims. Miss Ranaut did not bother to verify whether Aamir Khan actually said those words & attacked him publicly for her personal gains.

People who have seen Junaid & Ira’s(Aamir’s kids from his first marriage) pics will not see a hint of any religion in them. They both come across as regular Indians.

In today’s world where every website, social media handle is hungry for likes, follows, retweets, engagements, etc it has become very common for them to post click-bait headlines with sensational content just for the sake of ad revenues. No impetus is given to check the veracity of the content. No research goes into writing these articles. Sadly, there are little or no consequences for such people. In fact, such social media handles & or website gain a huge number of followers in a short period of time.

In a post SSR world, it is important that we verify these articles ourselves before we comment or share, where a celeb’s image can get maligned for their actions or quote they never did or gave.

OI too posts blind items only after getting it verified by industry sources.

My Opinion: Aamir Khan has time & again proven that he is unlike the rest of Bollywood celebs. He never dances at weddings for a fee, nor has he been seen in the company of underworld elements. He boycotts all award shows. His acting talent is undeniable. He is easily the best actor of his generation. He has time & again spoken about his love for the country. While I did not like him meeting the first lady of Turkey – owing to that country’s clear anti-India stance, I believe we should wait for Aamir to give his POV before outraging any further.
