Facts About Actor Aneesha Joshi

Aneesha Joshi is a rising dancer and actress who was brought up in the US but currently based in Mumbai. Aneesha hopes to be one of the many emerging artists bridging the gap between Indian and American arts and entertainment, while also creating cultural communication. Here is about her journey to becoming a successful actress.

1. What was Her Childhood Like? When was She First Introduced to Dance?

She was lucky to be raised in an extremely artistic family. From before she could remember she was exposed to music, dance, and cinema through her father, aunt and uncle as well as her cousins. Being from a film family, it was never a question that she would have an artistic education as a part of her upbringing; it was practically assumed! She is very grateful for the exposure to fine arts education from such a young age. Her love for dance sparked around the age of 4 and she was enrolled in ballet jazz as well as Bharatnatyam and Kathak classes. Her parents wanted to make sure that if she was to pursue dance, that she had a holistic education in it. 

2. What Drove Her to Make the Big Move from US to Mumbai?

She graduated from Boston University one semester early. She had overloaded and suddenly found herself with a job offer at a marketing firm. However, they were not going to get her onboard until about 9 months later, due to her early graduation! she decided to go to Mumbai with a “just for fun” mindset during that time. Soon thereafter she auditioned for and booked three television commercials and a film not too long after. She cancelled her return ticket and never looked back.

3. About her Film Heartbeats. What was Her Experience as a Lead Actor in the Film?

Heartbeats was and always will be a very special film to her, she said. It was one of her first experiences as an actor on a Hollywood project with such high caliber performers and technicians surrounding her. She found herself fighting very hard to level up to the expectations that came with the job and she grew as a performer immensely.

4. How has COVID-19 Affect Plans for this Year?

COVID-19 has shaken up all of us. The entertainment industry has blacked out and many of the artists are also struggling to keep themselves motivated and inspired with a lot of downtime suddenly. She tries to look on the bright side and she realized that this time is truly unprecedented. She believes our focus needs to be on flattening the curve and containing a spread while our brave front line workers and first responders risk their lives to keep us all safe. The movies can wait, for now.

5. What’s her Favorite Style of Dance?

Her favorite style of dance is a hard choice to make! However, lately she has been really inspired by Latin ballroom.
