Following Pathaan, John Abraham Focuses On Action Films And Takes A Break From Comedy

While John Abraham has withdrawn from the Sajid Khan-directed film, the talks in Awara Pagal Deewana 2 have also been pushed back. Is a Jim prequel in the works?

Pathaan has improved John Abraham's fortunes in the Hindi film industry. The actor received widespread praise for his vicious depiction of Jim in this Siddharth Anand-directed actioner starring Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone. Pathaan's popularity and appreciation has prompted John to rethink and plan his roster for the next two years. According to sources close to John, he is now keen to work on action initiatives.

Sajid Khan's 100% guarantee is withdrawn by John Abraham.

"John was looking to add comedy and masala artists to his lineup." In truth, he had signed on for Sajid Khan's 100% and was in advanced talks for Awara Pagal Deewana 2. But the popularity of Pathaan has altered everything, and John isn't in the mood to do another comedy anytime soon. While he has backed out completely, Awara Pagal Deewana 2 discussions have taken a back seat, with the creators actively exploring alternative options," said a source close to the matter.

John, on the other hand, is actively seeking good scripts in the action-thriller genre. "The hunt is on, and we'll have an update from John on a film or two in a month's time in this space." It's also in the works for a spin-off based on his character Jim, with the picture expected to go into production within the next two years. Yash Raj Productions and John have explored the idea, and the insider believes the character has the potential to go huge.

John Abraham's cast

Iran, a Dinesh Vijan production, will be John's next release in 2023. He is also starring alongside Bhushan Kumar in a geopolitical thriller directed by Shivam Nair. In the next two months, a couple of fresh film announcements will be made before we finally get a concrete update on the Jim prequel.
