Ishaan Khattar to Romance Tabu in ‘A Suitable Boy’

Ishaan Khattar and Tabu will be seen together in Mira Nair’s anticipated A Suitable Boy. The show will air on the BBC. Ishaan said I was easy to romance Tabu. When he was asked why, he replied, ‘Because that person is Tabu, it does half the job for you. I have said that before and I have said this in Dhadak as well, it is always easy for me to play the besotted lover. Because she is mesmerizing, she is and especially in this character. I am excited for people to see Saaeda Bai.’

He has been so comfortable working with her that he has a nickname for Tabu. It is Tabasco! Tabasco for Tabassum. Ishaan said, ‘I came up with it. She’s Mirchi.’ Ishaan was asked what he would like to gift Tabu. He said, ‘My heart! I would like to gift her. I think I am very much in possession of my heart. I would gift her book of Ghalib’s poetry.’

In A Suitable Boy, Ishaan plays Maan Kapoor who was the rebellious son of politician Mahesh Kapoor, who develops an attraction to the beautiful courtesan Saaeda Bai. The series will be shot across a variety of locations in India, including Maheshwar and Lucknow. This series also features actors like Randeep Hooda, Rasika Dugal, Shefali Shah, Namit Das, Danesh Razvi, Gagan Dev Riar, Mahira Kakkar, Mikhail Sen, Vijay Raaz and Vijay Varma. Tanya Maniktala will be playing Lata in the series.

A Suitable Boy is based on Vikram Seth’s novel of the same name. It showcases the stories of four families, set in the post-independence era. The story is centred on Rupa Mehra, who during the process of finding a suitable boy for her 19-year-old daughter Lata, embarks on a journey of self-discovery.

The first look of the series has come out. Ishaan is seen romancing with Tabu many years older than himself. In this, both of them are sitting in a very romantic pose on a swing. The pictures are going viral on social media as soon as it was shared. Ishaan and Tabu will be making an uncongenial couple in terms of the age gap. But we hope it works for them and the series comes out as a success.
