Summary

Bobby Grewal(Kanagana Ranaut) is an orphan who has just been released from a mental asylum. She is a landlord, whose other source of income is dubbing for C-grade movies. She has not been taking the pills the doctor gave to survive in the real world. Keshav(Rajkummar Rao) & his wife Preeti lease her spare flat. Bobby has a BF – Varun, whom she uses to menial work & never lets him touch her. Bobby starts getting fascinated with Keshav. She does things just to get his attention. Bobby accuses Keshav of murdering his wife, but Keshav manages to convince the cops that he is innocent. Bobby is sent to back to the mental asylum.

Years later Bobby’s sister asks her to come to meet her in London. She wants Bobby to be an under study in the staging of Ramayana. She finds out that her sister is pregnant & that she is married to hold your breath….Keshav! Bobby is convinced that Keshav is planning to murder his sister. Whereas Keshav accuses Bobby of having a thing for him & warns his sister to stay away from Bobby or risk losing her life due to Bobby’s insanity. Keshav is convinced that Bobby killed his late ex-wife.

So who is “judgemental” & who is telling the truth? Is Keshav really innocent or is he a murderer. Is Bobby’s obsession with Keshav the reason behind her far fetched claims? Watch the movie to find out!

Strengths

While bollywood is busy remaking hollywood & south indian hits, Judgemental Hai Kya comes across as a breath of fresh air. It is unlike what you have ever seen in a bollywood movie before & it is a great attempt by the director to give the audiences something new. The movie keeps you guessing till the very end. But movie buffs will be able to join the dots & predict the ending.

Hussain Dalal who plays Varun – Kangana’s hapless BF displays great comic timing. Satish Kaushik, Amrita Puri, Jimmy Shergill are decent. Rajkummar Rao is very convincing in his role. His acting is superb. The movie though is an out & out Kangana Ranaut film. Who can play a psycho better than Kangana? The screenplay is good.

Weakness

The film does slow down at certain points. The script could have been a bit tighter.

Verdict

While it is not a perfect film, Judgemental Hai Kya is still a great movie to watch. Watch it for Kanagana Ranaut’s brilliant performance.
