Kriti and Sushant were rumoured to be dating around the release of the film Raabta and reportedly parted ways later. After Sushant's demise on June 14, Kriti had shared a post on Instagram to mourn his death. However, she had gone quiet after a while when there was a lot of noise around. Kriti has finally broken her silence on Sushant's death and revealed the reason why she decided to remain tight-lipped all this while.

"At one point, there was so much noise around that I didn’t want to be a part of it. It reached a point where people stopped being sensitive, and there was too much negativity around. I didn’t want to be a part of that negativity,”

Kriti had been remembering Sushant in her own way. In January, she remembered him on his 35th birth anniversary by sharing a photograph of the late actor wearing his heartwarming smile. "This is how I'll remember you.. Smiling like a child! Happy Birthday Sush. I hope you are smiling and at peace wherever you are.." Kriti had written.

On the work front, Kriti will play diverse characters in upcoming films such as Bhediya, Mimi and Adipurush. She feels now she is in a position to try something different and challenging.

"When you establish yourself a bit and people are liking you and the film is doing the numbers that you want to do, it gives you confidence to take up something challenging. I feel as an actor you also get bored repeating yourself and the audience also gets bored seeing you in same kinds of films. Yes, there is a deliberate attempt to try do something different and not repeat yourself," she said. She added, "I have also been lucky enough to have liked scripts that belong to different genres. If tomorrow there are two horror comedies I am loving, I would do both. It is a nice feeling for me to do something different and not repeat myself."
