Leo Ending Explained

The Leo post-credit scene and conclusion of Thalapathy Vijay are explained: Is Leo Das the action thriller's antagonist or protagonist?

This is Vijay's second working with filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj on an action thriller set in Tamil.

Leo, the most recent film by Lokesh Kanagaraj, is a tribute to David Cronenberg's A History of Violence (2005). The Tamil movie centres on the well-known story of a decent man with a troubled background, but what really makes it stand out is Thalapathy Vijay's portrayal of Parthiban, the film's main character. Recognised for his effortless portrayal of nuanced roles, Vijay gives another outstanding performance that pushes the film to new frontiers.

It was a well-known fact that Thalapathy Vijay's upcoming film would have ties to the Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU) even before actor-producer-politician Udhayanidhi Stalin disclosed that Leo is a part of the LCU. Despite filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj's best efforts, there was a noticeable resemblance in the teasers for Vikram and Leo's announcements. Thankfully, these linkages were minimised in the Leo trailers to maintain viewer surprise.

Even though Leo might not develop into a fully realised character in upcoming LCU movies, it's very likely that allusions will be made, or maybe the famous actor will make a fun cameo. It also makes sense if he decides not to participate in Vikram's missions. Leo was all about protecting his family from harm, revealing his Parthiban persona to his father and uncle only at the very end of their lives, so he wouldn't want to take unnecessary risks and draw criminal attention to his family.
