Merry Christmas Ending Explained 

The majority of Raghavan's flicks keep you on the edge of your seat because you can never tell what will happen next. But the plot of Merry Christmas is very predictable from the very beginning, and though the picture picks up pace in the second half, the way everything wraps up is quite lackluster.

After seven years, Albert returned, and he informed anyone who inquired that he was in Dubai at the time. He noticed a woman sitting at a restaurant with her daughter on Christmas Eve when he went for a stroll. When he went to the loo, a man there asked him to tell the woman that he had to depart since he had some essential work to do. Unaware of what was going on, Albert approached the woman and informed her that the man had left. Albert saw that the woman had been stood up when he looked at her face. He tried to strike up a conversation as he followed her into the movie theater.

After the police had departed, Albert admitted to Maria that he had killed his lover seven years prior and that he was still plagued by guilt and unable to atone for his transgressions. Because he had been there before and was familiar with the system, Albert assured Maria that he could assist her. Albert assisted Maria in setting all of the evidence on fire, but things took a turn for the worst when Ronnie used Albert's name in the police inquiry and was called by the lead inspector, Paresh Kaamdar. Albert now had to ensure that his testimony matched Maria's as she was unaware that he had been called there.

Maria knew that Albert had a tendency of constructing paper doves because he had shown her the other night. In order for Maria to know that he had been called, he created a dove and placed it on Paresh Kaamdar's table.

When Merry Christmas came to an end, Maria and Albert's statements coincided, and the police were on the verge of concluding that the case included suicide when Marie's daughter did something to ruin their carefully laid out plot.

She was playing with a toy that Albert had given her, and when Paresh Kaamdar inquired who had given it to her, she said it was Albert. The other night, Ronnie purposefully left his wallet under the couch because he was looking for a reason to visit Maria again and spend time with her. When Albert arrived at the police station, the wallet was already in his pocket. Since Ronnie had purposefully left it there, Kaamdar reasoned that they could examine the house once and, should they discover nothing, then someone else must have broken into the house and killed Jerome.

Albert chose to accept responsibility for Maria's ultimate misfortune after realising that she would eventually get into problems. He admitted that he killed Jerome because he was sleeping with Maria and, in a sense, making a proposal to her. Maria wore the ring Albert had carried around in his pocket for the last seven long years. Maria had another chance to live the life she had always desired when Albert was taken into custody by the police.

Sriram Raghavan's film, which stars Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi, is picking up steam at the box office thanks to positive word-of-mouth.
