Mirzapur Gets Into Trouble Due To Its Portrayal Of Women

Check out all the details of the plea given by the Supreme Court to the makers of Mirzapur for their portrayal of women.

It appears that the makers of Mirzapur have not really escaped the trouble after one resident of Mirzapur filed a complaint against the series for depicting Mirzapur and the entire UP state in an indecent light. However, days after this complaint Mirzapur is still facing issues from the public and the government.

The Supreme Court has sent a notice to the makers of Mirzapur regarding the ‘shameless’ representation of women in the series. The advocate who belongs from Mirzapur objected the portrayal of the character Beena Tripathi, played by Rasika Dugal. In the show, Beena Tripathi is having a sexual relationship with her father-in-law, whose character has been played by Kulbhushan Kharbanda.

The plea mentioned that Mirzapur has a significant cultural value in India and has a Vindhyanchal Temple which is counted among the 108 Shakti Peeth in the country. The portrayal of the women through the character of Beena Tripathi was considered to be ‘ridiculous’ and ‘shameless’.

The plea read, ‘By showing such ridiculous and shameless things on the name of a city/ district is the insult of approximately 30 lakh population and rich culture of Mirzapur.’ The notice was sent by Chief Justice SC Bobde, wherein Excel Entertainment Pvt. Ltd and Amazon were a part of the proceedings.
