Monica O My Darling Review

Monica my Darling was released on Netflix on 11 Novemeber 2022. Have you watched it? It stars Huma Qureshi (Monica), Rajkummar Rao (Jayant), Akansha Ranjan (Nikki Adhikari), Zayn Marie Khan (Shalu Vartak), Abhimanyu Dasani (Surya), Radhika Apte (ACP Naidu), Sikandar Kher (Nishikant Adhikari), Sukant Goel (Gaurav) in key roles. It has been directed by Vasan Bala and produced by Vishal Bajaj, Sarita Patil and Sanjay Routray.

The film is a proper murder mystery with lot of fun and twists. The story begins with a mysterious murder done for love. Then the story travels for six years and we see Jayant being promoted as the director of Robotics Company Unicorn. He has been dating the daughter of the CEO Nikki but he doesn't actually loves her. He has affair with one of his colleagues who is Monica. She then drops a bomb on Jayant. that's, 'Mein Tumhare Bache ki Maa Banne Wali Hoon.' Jayant gets all shocked and scared as now she starts blackmailing him. Later it is found that she is also blackmailing the account's head and CEO's son (Nishikant) with the same. Nishikant then calls the two in an hotel and plans to murder Monica to get rid of her and stay clean. The two also agree on it but the twists starts as Nishikant is found death instead of Monica. Jayant and the account's head were doubting on Monica to kill Nishikant. Later one by one there are around 2-3 murders, each giving rise to the suspense

I had a lot of questions throughtout the films like -

1. Is Monica really pregnant?

2. What is Monica's intension behind the blackmailing?

3. If she is really pregnant, who is the father?

4. Who killed Nishikant, the accounts head and also tried to kill Jayant?

5. Are all of them the same person?

Though all these were answered by the end of the film. My favourite character would be the not so long but impactful character of ACP Naidu. Radhika Apte was superb in the film and she had a unique way of investgating the whole murder mystery. At the end she revealed the culprit's name to Jayant only. I also enjoyed Gaurav's role as he was a strong character and somewhat the main element of the story. The dialogues and direction of the film were on point.

The ending of the film was not a complete closure and I am expecting a sequel out of the story. I would rate it a 3.8/5.
