Most Popular Netlfix Shows Watched By Indians

Check out the latest statistics given by Netflix regarding the most popular romantic, comedy and thriller movies and shows in India.
 

In the month of March when the denizens of Indian were swept under a lockdown due to the increasing pandemic, their only way out was the exciting movie thrillers and attractive shows that can help them take their mind off from the virus. Therefore, the viewership of OTT platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+Hotstar, saw a significant spike which is still increasing.

With 2020 coming to an end, Netflix drew out the statistics to depict the most-watched movies and shows by Indians. According to Netflix approximately 80% of the Indian users have watched a movie every week, which does not come at all as surprising.

The most popular thriller film which thrilled many was ‘Raat Akeli Hain’, whereas ‘Ludo’, became the most watched comedy film. Most popular action films have been considered to be ‘Malang: Unleash The Madness,’ and ‘The Old Guard’. ‘Gujan Saxena: The Kargil Girl;, also became the most popular drama film. Apart from the Bollywood craze and international viewership, people have also developed a liking for south Indian films like ‘Ala Vaikunthapurramloo’,’ Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal’, ‘Kappela’ and ‘Uma Maheswara Ugra Roopasya’, so much so that they have been featured as the top 10 films in the year of 2020.

The platform also observed a spike of 250% in the viewership of romantic films, most importantly, ‘Love Aaj Kal’, ‘Ginny Weds Sunny’ and ‘Mismatched’. Apart from the Indian-origin based movies and shows, there has been quite a significant increase in the viewership of the international movies and series. For instance, ‘Dark’ and ‘Money Heist’ have quite become the favourites, staying in the list of top 10 for 95 days and 170 days respectively.

In addition to his, K-Pop has hit the international charts this year. It seems that K-dramas are following the suit. K-dramas’ viewership has spiked 370% with the most popular shows being ‘The King: Eternal Monarch’, ‘Kingdom’, ‘It’s Okay To Not Be Okay,’ and ‘Start up’.
