Nagraj Manjule To Direct Webseries Based On Matka King Of Mumbai

SIDDHARTH ROY KAPUR has signed NAGRAJ MANJULE (Sairat, Fandry) to direct a web series based on the life of RATAN KHATRI aka MATKA KING.
Set during 1960's to 1990's, the series will capture the culture of Mumbai's working classes of the '60s and '70s and will show how money moves through the informal economy and influences a nation's power structure through the eyes of the FATHER of the BETTING INDUSTRY OF INDIA.
From being a idler in MUMBADEVI, KHATRI rose from running a betting ring on fluctuation in cotton rates in New york Market to deciding the fate of numerous punters all over the country through an illegal gambling network spread all over India, dealing with crores of money invested by many corporate barons, netas and film stars in his network, who passed away in 2020. NAGRAJ MANJULE has already began his research work on KHATRI's life and the timeline for this project is currently under discussion. On the other hand, MANJULE has AMITABH BACHCHAN starrer JHUND whose fate for release is currently unknown.
