OI Original: Streamer Refuses To Buy Star’s Film

A content streaming platform has refused to buy a movie before its theatrical release.

As per a leading tabloid, a film starring an actress whose last few movies were major hits was not liked by a popular streaming platform. While streaming platforms are buying the movie rights by the dozen, they asked the filmmakers to go for a theatrical release first. The streaming platform has offered to buy the movie’s post-cinematic release rights for a fraction.

It looks like the heydays of cutting losses of movies by selling it to a streaming platform amid the pandemic is over. A lot may have to do with the dismal response that some movies which released online have received.

The actress in question is mentored by a big filmmaker. As per his advice, she has gotten herself linked to another actor whom the filmmaker used to date. There were rumors of her hooking up with a married co-star while shooting for a blockbuster movie.
