Raima Sen’s Dream to Embody the Legacy of Her Grandmother Suchitra Sen on Screen

Raima Sen, one of the most beautiful facess in Indian cinema today, has shouldered the legacy of the legendary SSK worldwide all along. Raima has been compared to her grandmother, Suchitra Sen, who was a legendary Bengali actress, and Raima has learnt a lot from her own experience. Of late, Raima disclosed her desire to play her grandmother’s role on the silver screen, which she believes is an ideal one.

A Legacy Worth Recreating
Saat Pake Bandha and Aandhi film star Suchitra Sen is one of the most legendary actresses of Indian cinema. She was unique, gorgeous, graceful and mysterious; she was a woman of her time and any other time that people cared to devote their attention to her. As a granddaughter who lost her grandmother, Raima embraces the belief of representing her grandma’s life on the big screen a little more than the others try to emulate her enchantment.
Raima said in an interview recently, “I am sure it will be an honour if I get a chance to portray my grandmother Suchitra Sen.” It would be hard, but one of the tasks I would gladly accept to do. So, if a good script comes in, then I am available.”

A Striking Resemblance and a Shared Love for Cinema
After a journey that started with Pijush Saha’s Chokher Bali and continued with the cult movie Parineeta, Raima has managed her niche in the industry. Still, there quite naturally remain discussions about the fact that she resembles Suchitra Sen not only in terms of facial features but also her overall demeanour and screen presence; why can’t she portray Suchitra Sen in a biopic? Raima has an ode to her grandmother from the past and I think she wants to be Sridevi so much that she can give up her life for her.
Honoring a Timeless Icon
The latter is not merely an acting task for Raima as a heroine who takes up such a role. The movie is dedicated to the memory of a woman who has left a remarkable example for people. As for Raima, who plays the grandmother, the desire to pay tribute to her and the movie, as well as her own experience as a woman and actress. The role, if she secures it, maybe one of the biggest in Raima’s career; it allows her to explore her line age and help introduce the generations to the life of her grandmother.

By recreating the biography of Suchitra Sen, Raima wants to give the audience an idea of how this actress revolutionized the Indian movie industry.
