Thangam Biography – Thangam and KGF Connection!

Introduction:

Thangam, a notorious criminal, gained attention during his time for his involvement in various criminal activities. In this article, we will delve into the biography of Thangam, exploring his background, criminal exploits, and the connection between Thangam and the movie KGF.

Thangam's Background and Criminal Activities:

Thangam was born in Karnataka, and his mother's name was Paulina or Pouli. He was infamous for his criminal activities and was often referred to as "Veerappan Junior," as he was considered the second most notorious criminal after the sandalwood smuggler Veerappan. According to reports from that time, Thangam had accumulated 42 offenses in just four years.

One notable incident involved Thangam stealing jewelry and other valuable items worth Rs 1.5 lakhs from a store on December 2. His actions attracted attention from law enforcement agencies, and shoot-at-sight orders were issued against him, causing embarrassment to the police force.

Despite his criminal activities, Thangam enjoyed local support as he would share his wealth with the community and help the poor. Similar to Veerappan, he was often referred to as the "Robin Hood" of the region.

Thangam's Encounter and Death:

Due to the shoot-at-sight orders, Thangam's life took a tragic turn when he was killed by the KGF (Kolar Gold Fields) police on December 27, 1997, in Kuppam of Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh. Following his encounter, the police also encountered three of Thangam's brothers - Sagayam, Gopi, and Jayakumar.

The movie KGF, directed by Prashanth Neel, contains certain similarities to Thangam's story. However, it is important to note that the movie is largely fictionalized. In the movie, the character Rocky draws inspiration from his mother, reminiscent of Thangam's strong bond with his mother Paulina. Additionally, Thangam's gang was often referred to as the "Pouli gang" in the media, known for their robberies in and around the KGF (Kolar Gold Fields) region.

Conclusion:

While there are some resemblances between Thangam's life and the movie KGF, it is crucial to understand that the movie is primarily a work of fiction. Thangam's biography showcases his criminal activities, local support, and ultimately, his encounter with the police. The connection between Thangam and KGF serves as an interesting aspect, adding a layer of intrigue to the fictional world portrayed in the film.
