Sultan of Delhi - Review
Sultan of Delhi is one of the lastest series available on Disney Plus Hotstar. It has got a good response from the audience. The series stars Anupriya Goenka (Shankari Devi), Tahir Raj Bhasin (Arjun), Mouni Roy (Nayantara), Mehreen Pirzada (Sanjana), Nishant Dahiya (RP), Harleen Sethi (Preeti), Anjum Sharma (Bangali), Vinay Pathak (Jagan Seth) in ley roles. It has been directed by Milan Luthria who is known for his directorial in The Dirty Picture and has been produced by Namit Sharma under the banner of Reliance Entertainment.
The story emerges from the time of independence followed by the chaos during partition. It shows the young boy Arjun losing everything from his house to mother and siblings during the fight. Only he and his father would survive and came to India. Later, his father got mentally sick and he was left all alone in the crowd of evils. But he was a bold and brave soul who didn't just stood for himself but the entire group of people. His fight for survival had began when he murdered a shopkepper for daily requirements. Later, we see him grown up and joining Jagan Seth who is a well-known business man dealing in illegal arms.
Gradually with his work, he impresses Jagan Seth and becomes one of his closes men at work. The person who brings Arjun into the business is Bangali and while working together they become good friends and consider each other as brothers. Meanwhile, RP comes in to break Jagan Seth with the directions of Shankari Devi who seems to be the mastermind behind the game. Sanjana is the love interest of Arjun but as he disappears for a few days she gets married to RP who mistreats her. Later, Arjun gets married to Preeti who is his childhood friend and she is totally in love with him. Bangali also finds his love in Nayantara. Through RP, Shankari pollutes Jagan Seth's mind saying that Arjun would soon replace him. This hit Sethji hard and he tries to kill Arjun but eventually Bangali and Arjun kill Jagan Seth and take over the entire business. This makes him the Sultan of Delhi.
I really enjoyed the show and waiting for the next seasons. There is drama, romance, humour, emotion and what not. There are a lot of deaths and unexpected twists throughout the show. You will definately enjoy it if you like raw content. The roles played by Anjum, Tahir and Anupriya were superbold and perfectly performed. Also the show has some beautiful love songs. I would rate it a 4.2/5.
