The Brahmastra Curse

Brahmastra: Part One Of Three is one of the most awaited films this year. Written and directed by Ayan Mukherji and produced by Karan Johar. The movie is going to cast some of the Bollywood superstars such as Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Mouni Roy, and Nagarjuna Akkineni. Ranbir Kapoor’s last film with director Ayan Mukherji was ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ which was a blockbuster.

Although the cast consists some of the most influential superstars of Bollywood, there are rumours saying that the movie is cursed.

This curse gains relevance due to the dent in the careers of Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt who were doing great before working on this movie. Ranbir Kapoor’s last movie ‘Sanju’, was a 300 crore plus hit, whereas Alia Bhatt’s movies have been hitting the flop box collection after signing for the Brahmastra. Not only that, but Sushant Singh Rajput’s death has greatly affected Alia Bhatt & Karan Johar's brand value.

Karan Johar’s films such as Student Of The Year 2, Kalank, Bhoot Part One, etc were under-performers. While before the start of Brahmastra, he had a great track record at the box office. Baahubali(distributed by Dharma), Humpty Sharma franchise, Kapoor & Sons, etc are some of the hits from the Dharma productions stable. 

If that wasn't enough, Ranbir Kapoor is down with COVID-19. The trailer announcement shoot has now been delayed owing to Ranbir's health.

The movie will be releasing in December 2021. Will it succeed? Will it be worth it for Ranbir, Alia & Karan Johar? Please drop a comment with your views.
