This Is The Reason Anurag Kashyap Spent Years Away From Working With Manoj Bajpayee!

Manoj Bajpayee on why he didn't collaborate with Anurag Kashyap for a long time: I had no use for him, and my career was failing.

Manoj Bajpayee's career trajectory intersected with Anurag Kashyap's creative vision in a way that left a lasting mark on Indian cinema. It all began in 1998 with the gritty and powerful film "Satya." While Ram Gopal Varma donned the director's hat, Anurag Kashyap's sharp writing skills brought the characters to life. It was Kashyap's script that gave birth to the iconic role of Bhiku Mhatre, played with raw intensity by Manoj Bajpayee. This collaboration was a turning point for both men. Bajpayee, who had been showcasing his talent in smaller films, gained mainstream recognition for his portrayal of the complex underworld figure. Kashyap, then a budding screenwriter, established himself as a force to be reckoned with in the industry.

Anurag Kashyap and Manoj Bajpayee have a lengthy history together. However, there was a protracted hiatus during which the two did not collaborate from 2000 to 2011. The actor recently disclosed the cause of the same in an interview with Bollywood Bubble. There was a miscommunication over one issue, and we chose not to discuss it. These days, it's so popular on social media that, when shame happens, things are sometimes overdone. We didn't speak because I thought he wasn't doing pictures that I was interested in, and he thought Manoj Bajpayee wasn't needed right now because his career wasn't going well. As a result, we were both content with our lives on our own and neither of us needed the other.

The two initially collaborated on Ram Gopal Varma's cult thriller Satya (1998), where Manoj performed the well-known main character of Bhiku Mhatre and Anurag wrote the screenplay. Following the triumph of Satya, they got back again for Ram Gopal Varma's next action-crime drama, Shool, which was released the following year.

But Manoj and Anurag didn't work together again for 11 years after that. With Anurag's cult crime epic Gangs of Wasseypur (2012), in which Manoj portrayed the iconic Sardar Khan, they reunited. They parted ways once more and haven't been back together since. Manoj will next be seen with his Sirf Ek Banda Kafi Hai director Apoorv Singh Karki in the rustic action drama Bhaiyya Ji.
