Jay Oza demonstrates the directing technique of Aryan Khan

Cinematographer Jay Oza, along with Shreya Dev Dube, discussed the methods of Aryan Khan, the son of Shah Rukh Khan, with Film Companion. "In a movie like Raman Raghav 2.0, we all knew what we were aiming for," said Oza. That's the story's inherent nature. However, because I prefer the visual style of the programme I'm creating with Aryan, I am unable to adopt Raman Raghav's methodology.”

"Yet it is because it is a certain level of comedy, entertainment," he went on. Personally, Aryan prefers bright visuals. Even if it goes against everything, I have to adjust and even offer it to him. Jay Oza clarifies the performers' final say in DOP choice. Oza also said that the performers have the last word when it comes to choosing the Director of Photography. "The actors have a say in the DoP eventually," he said. So the performer has given his or her approval before we are finalised.”

"I got a call one night from a producer saying that we might have to change the DP because the actress doesn't like your work, in terms of, you're great but you can't do beauty lighting," he recalled, recalling a time when he was rejected by an actress. Oza went on, "Apparently, the director really wanted me or he was feeling bad that he wasn’t pulling off the plug at 12am when it’s 7am shift." "I woke up to an email from the management telling me how I should light the actress," he continued. Naturally, this wounded my immediate artistic ego, but I collected myself and told myself that I shouldn't let it get to me as long as I'm receiving my daily fix.

I choose to follow the rules and play the other way."
