Tunisha Sharma, a popular Indian television actress, has reportedly died by suicide, as she was found hanging from the ceiling of her TV serial's set. Her co-star, Sheezan Khan, with whom she had recently ended a relationship, has been arrested in Mumbai following the post-mortem examination. This news is still unfolding. Sharma was 21 years old at the time of her death on December 24. Unfortunately, she is not the only celebrity we have lost to suicide. Here is a glimpse at some of the other well-known personalities who have tragically taken their own lives.

On October 1, Soujanya, a well-known Kannada television actress, was discovered dead under dubious circumstances in an apartment near Doddabele village on the outskirts of Bengaluru city in Ramnagar district. Prior to her apparent suicide, Soujanya wrote a four-page note expressing her love for her family and apologizing for her actions, blaming her mental state and debilitating health issues. Karnataka's Home Minister, Araga Jnanendra, has ordered the police to investigate the case and take appropriate action.

On January 24, Sejal Sharma, an Indian TV actress known for her role in 'Dil Toh Happy Hai', was found dead at her Mumbai home. Her death came shortly after the death of Kushal Punjabi. According to reports, Sharma was experiencing a great deal of stress due to her parents' poor health, and a suicide note was found that alluded to her difficult life. Meera Deosthale, who appears in Colors TV's 'Vidya', paid tribute to Sharma in a social media post, expressing shock and sadness that someone who was always smiling and cheerful had been battling depression. She added that she wished Sharma had reached out to someone for help.

In May, Manmeet Grewal, an Indian TV actor famous for his roles in 'Aadat Se Majboor' and 'Kuldeepak', committed suicide at his home in Navi Mumbai. It was reported that the actor was struggling with debt and had been unable to find work during India's pandemic-induced lockdown. According to sources, Grewal's wife found him hanging in their bedroom. He was 32 years old at the time of his death.

On May 26, the death of Indian TV actress Preksha Mehta was determined to be a suicide by hanging, as a note she had written was discovered by the police. Mehta, who was 25 years old and had acted in the show 'Crime Patrol', was found in her family home in Indore, where she had been residing during the COVID-19 lockdown. Reports suggest that she may have been struggling with depression due to job loss resulting from the pandemic. In the suicide note she left, it is claimed that her career and unsuccessful relationships were factors that contributed to her decision.

On June 8, it was reported that Disha Salian, a former manager of Sushant Singh Rajput, had died after falling or jumping from the 14th floor of her fiancé's residence in Malad. Her death was followed by Rajput's own death five days later. Much like Rajput's passing, Salian's death is also surrounded by uncertainty and unanswered questions.

Last year on June 14, Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput was discovered deceased in his residence in Bandra, Mumbai. While various government agencies are investigating his passing, the official post-mortem report indicates that Rajput died from asphyxiation caused by hanging. His sudden death reignited conversations about the importance of mental health and the struggles that celebrities face in the public eye. Rajput, who had an endearing personality and appeared in popular films like 'Kai Po Che' and 'Chhicchore', won the hearts of millions of fans. Amidst the shock of Sushant Singh Rajput's passing, it was revealed that TV actor Susheel Gowda had also allegedly taken his own life in his hometown of Mandya in July. Famous for his role in 'Anthapura', he was discovered dead from hanging according to police reports. Gowda was only 32 years old at the time of his passing. In 2015, he started his career in Kannada television serials and had also appeared in a few Kannada films.

Sameer Sharma, a 44-year-old television actor who became famous for his role in 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi', was discovered deceased at his residence in Mumbai on August 5 of last year. According to the police report, the actor died by hanging and his passing was ruled as a suicide. Late actor's social media activity suggested that he may have been struggling with depression. On July 20, he shared a short film he had created on Facebook titled 'The Cut', which he described as "A film about the psychological effects of the isolation due to the lockdown on a person living alone." His social media accounts contain numerous similar poems in Hindi and English that depict pain and heartbreak as their themes.

Asif Basra, an Indian actor who gained international recognition for his role in 'Outsourced', passed away at the age of 53 in Dharamsala, Northern India on November 12. The police determined that it was a case of suicide. Basra had appeared in a number of films, including 'Black Friday', 'Jab We Met', and 'Parzania'.
