The word ‘Serial Killer’ is already a terrifying one. No one can know what goes on in their mind. The kill people for the pleasure of it and mostly in an intricate pattern that no one can understand. The see the act of killing like it is a form of art. They commit crimes that are simply unforgivable and the violence caused by them are nothing less than a horrifying incident which is impossible to forget. In India, serial killers are not a new thing.
Some of the Serial Killers of India who are either dead or in jail are:
- Raman Raghav
Raman Raghav was a name exists when the place Bombay used to exist. He used to terrorized the northern suburbs of the city. He ruthlessly killed people including children without any reason. He used to kill them using a baton, smashing their skulls and breaking their jaws. When he was caught, he confessed 40 murders and was sentenced to life in prison.
- Renuka Shinde and Seema Gavit
They were half sisters in relation and between 1990 to 1996 they killed 5 children and had done dozens of kidnappings. The kidnapped children were never found. The mastermind behind all these crimes was their mother Anjana Bai who had destroyed the life of innumerable children.
- D. Kempamma
This woman used to kill the woman belonging to lower middle class families. She would target a woman and befriend them at temples and then visit their homes. After they are comfortable with her, she used to poison them with Potassium Cyanide. She would plunder all the belongings after that. She is known as ‘Cyanide Mallika’ of Karnataka.
- Devendra Sharma
He was a Ayurvedic Doctor by profession and used to kill the drivers for their vehicles. In a span of 2 years, he killed around 40 drivers. And he has confessed to be involved indirectly in 100 other murders. He was caught in 2008 and sentenced life to prison.
- M. Jaishankar
In a span of 3 years, he was accused of doing 30 rapes and 15 murders and that too not in one state but across 3 states- Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. He worked as a truck driver and targeted woman at the highways and used machete as a murder weapon.
