Vinesh Phogat is one of the most famous wrestler in Indian wrestling history. She was born on August 25, 1994, in a small place in Haryana's Charkhi Dadri. Her father was Rajpal Phogat who was the brother of famous wrestler Mahavir Singh. According to some reports, after Rajpal Phogat's death, Mahavir Phogat adopted Vinesh and taught her to be a wrestler, just like his daughters Geeta, Babita, Ritu, and Sangeeta Phogat.
Vinesh Phogat is the first Indian woman wrestler to win gold medals in two major competitions, one in the 2018 Commonwealth Games and the 2018 Asian Games.
Vinesh has also received the Padma Shri Award (2018), the Arjuna Award (2016), and the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award (2020) for her outstanding contributions to Indian wrestling over the last decade.

Vinesh Phogat's Olympics run in Paris 2024 came to an end on August 7, 2024, when she was disqualified due to weight issues in the finals. On the day of final Vinesh Phogat weighed 100 grams more than the acceptable weight restriction for the 50 kg category. That's why Vinesh was disqualified from the competition, therefore ending her chances of becoming the first Indian wrestler to win an Olympic gold medal.
But what was more sad is that she also became ineligible for the silver medal. Anyways after what happened with her in the Paris 2024 Olympic campaign, Vinesh Phogat deserves a lot of credit for making the final. In the semi-finals, Vinesh Phogat made an upset in the Olympic champion when she won against Japanese great Yui Susaki, as well as Ukraine's powerhouse Oksana Livach.
Apart from her professional life, Vinesh got married to her lover Somvir Rathee, who is also a wrestler. The pair fell in love while working for Indian Railways. After dating for a few years, Vinesh and Somvir got married on December 14, 2018, in a low-key ceremony. The pair currently has no children because they are both focused on their wrestling careers.
